Edukate is a private tutoring business based in Crosby, Liverpool, run by myself (Kate), an experienced tutor and First class graduate in Education Studies. I have tutored primary aged children for the past 10 years, supporting children of all ages and abilities to achieve their full potential. It was from this experience that my passion for tutoring grew, as I began to see the impact just a small amount of tuition can have on a child’s confidence, ability and approach to learning. I wanted to create a tutoring business which focuses on the long-term well being of its students, creating a positive environment in which all learning is appreciated and supported.
We see education as a powerful tool for change; to change a student’s perceptions of their own capabilities, to change the way in which they perceive the world around them, to change a student’s future and enable them to make a positive change within society. Our aim is for students to become confident, critical, independent thinkers who have the resilience to overcome barriers, face challenges and thrive within all aspects of their education and beyond.
We use a small group approach, with a maximum of 4 students for Key Stage 1 and 6 students for Key Stage 2. Parents and their child are invited to attend our centre for an initial assessment, conducted in line with the current National Curriculum. During this time, parents leave their child with us and return to pick them up at the end of the session.
The initial assessment is free of charge for Key Stage 2 students. However, for Key Stage 1 students, the assessment is conducted on a one-to-one basis with a tutor and is therefore chargeable.
Based on the outcome of the assessment, we will recommend a service that best supports the child’s individual learning needs and goals. Although sessions are delivered in small groups, each lesson is tailored to the unique needs of every child. We re-assess all students each term to monitor progress and ensure our lesson plans continue to align with their evolving learning objectives.
